First attempt at cosplay: Take 1

As you might have gathered from the title I’m attempting to do Tali from Mass Effect 2 for PAX east in March. This is my first cosplay ever so it probably won’t be amazing but I’m a perfectionist so I’m hoping it will come out half decent. I’ve been scouring the internets for different tutorials, posting on cosplay.com forums and doing many many google searches for reference pictures.

So far I’m still mostly in planning/test run phases. I’ve made one prototype helmet, thew it out because it didn’t work and started another. My plan is to make a cardboard base and paper mache that. I bought a motorcycle face visor off amazon to attach (maybe screw on? we’ll see how that goes…) to the base. Then I’m going to paperclay the bulk of the helmet detail on top. Also working on getting leds installed in it, my dads an engineer so I’m having him help me with that stuff :) The plan is to put 1 on the mouthpiece and perhaps 2 inside with uv contacts so my eyes will glow.

My sewing skills are minimal so I’ve made a few mockups of the jacket part and hood out of scrap cloth that I’m pretty happy with. I’m also making the bodysuit and have done one practice/patterning run so far. Anyways this is definitely a work in progress and maybe I’ll add pictures of what little I have so far lol
